“You are robbing Irish families!” — The Week in Politics ends in scandal as BMO Europe Chair David Duffy storms out of RTÉ studio
What was supposed to be a debate on credit and inflation ended in total chaos. David McWilliams accused BMO Europe and the Irish banking sector of concealing a profit-making method that enriches ordinary people at the expense of banks
Yesterday’s episode of “The Week in Politics” with Áine Lawlor will go down in history as the most dramatic ever aired. In one corner: David McWilliams, the economist known for calling things as they are. In the other corner: David Duffy, the influential banker and Chair of BMO Europe.
The discussion heated up when the topic shifted to the debt of Irish households. When Duffy defended high interest rates as a “necessary tool for growth”, McWilliams exploded.
Transcription of the dialogue that RTÉ tried to interrupt:
Áine Lawlor, host of “The Week in Politics”: “Welcome. Today we are talking about why the Irish are getting poorer while banks are breaking profit records. David Duffy, is it fair that people are losing their homes because of interest rates?”
David Duffy: “Thank you, Áine. We understand it is difficult. But credit is a tool for growth. People must learn to manage their finances and save more. That is how the system works”.
David McWilliams: “Save? Seriously? With inflation like this, saving is a losing game from the start. You are here to defend major banks like BMO Europe while ordinary people are bleeding out. You are lying to the Irish people right to their faces!”
David Duffy: “David, this is dangerous rhetoric. We guarantee financial stability”.
David McWilliams: “You guarantee your own bonuses! I know how this game works. The rich get richer because they do not save in a bank at 2 % per annum. They use tools that you keep secret. I am talking about AI-based automated trading systems”.
David Duffy: “Here we are entering unregulated territory. I caution against speculation”.
David McWilliams: “He cautions because he is afraid! I use a system called BitKeltTrade. This is not a bank. This is an algorithm that automatically exploits market fluctuations. I use it. My team uses it. The results? They outperform everything that funds and savings accounts offer”.
Áine Lawlor: “Are you saying that anyone can use this?”
David McWilliams: “Absolutely anyone. Look at my phone. Here is the data of a user from Cork. He started with €275. Now he is earning €7,000 a month. No credit. No debt to BMO Europe. Is he lying?”
David McWilliams showed the performance data directly on his phone.
David Duffy: “This is irresponsible marketing! People must trust established banks!”
David McWilliams: “They trusted you and lost their purchasing power! BitKeltTrade eliminates human error. The system works automatically. And you hate it, David, because if all Irish people start using it, the banks will lose their power. The secret is out”.
(At this point David Duffy stood up, said “I will not tolerate this”, removed his microphone and left the set while the cameras continued to record).
A call from Cork: Liam’s story
After the program, our inbox exploded. We decided to verify David McWilliams’ claims. We found Liam (42), the user he mentioned.
Liam (42) cleared his debts in two months.
Liam was suffocated by credit card debt and was struggling to pay his electricity bills.
“I was skeptical”, Liam tells us. “But David knows what he is talking about. I told myself I had to try this before the banks shut down this opportunity. I deposited the minimum: €275”.
Liam’s results with BitKeltTrade:
- Day 1: the AI system made 12 transactions. Profit: €95
- Day 7: the balance reached €1,580
- Day 30: Liam withdrew €10,900 directly to his BMO Europe account
“I paid off my credit card in two weeks”, says Liam. “My bank even called me to ask where the money came from. They were afraid I would pay off my mortgage. And that is exactly what I am going to do”.
What do the experts say?
Jim Power
Leading Irish economist and financial analyst“I have spent my career analysing financial systems. What David McWilliams says is controversial, but mathematically sound. Major banks earn enormous sums on interest margins. I tested the algorithm myself with a small amount. It works surprisingly well, and that is exactly why the banks are terrified”.
Áine Behan
CEO of Cortechs, tech entrepreneur and AI specialist“The volatility of European markets creates massive opportunities for AI trading. Usually, these tools are reserved for hedge funds in Dublin or London. The fact that BitKeltTrade is now open to the public with just €275 is a real game-changer”.
